- I ordered the USR V34+ 33.6 upgrade for my external 28.8 Sportster in
- Nov. 1995 and received it the first week of March. I can tell no
- performance difference from my previous upgrade in April of 1995. The
- new Prom has the following dates:
- Supv. 8-29-95
- DSP 7-5-95
- Sup Rev 6.0.6
- Dsp Rev 1.2.4

- Last week I had the opportunity to buy some new USR V34+ External
- Sporters for our computers at work. I naturally checked the Prom
- dates and compared them to my recent up grade. Guess what, the off the
- shelf modems had different and newer dates than my upgrade. I
- immediately took them home and compared the performance to to my
- recently upgraded modem. More surprises, the new off the shelf modems
- connected at a higher rate almost everytime. I finally saw my very
- first 28.8 connection. What gives USR? How many different Proms are
- out there and which one is the most current? I appears that USR just
- shipped out lots of old chips to get rid of inventory. The ones on
- the shelf were probably manufactured months ago yet still have newer
- dates on the proms. I think I just got ripped for $25 upgrade. Any
- others find this to be the case?

- New Sportster dates:
-
- Eprom 10-18-95
- DSP 10-18-95
- Ep Rev 1.1
- Dsp Rev 1.1
